City of Nin

The city of Nin is the oldest Croatian royal town - the cradle of nation's history and Christianity. Its history is recorded in numerous monuments of cultural heritage. Chosen as a European Destination of Excellence, it is a wonderful holiday destination and a great place to live. Surrounded by a breath-taking shallow lagoon, its historical nucleus is situated on an islet about 500 meters in diameter, encompassing magnificent remains of a rich, three-thousand-year old city history.
Magnificent natural sand beaches are considered among the most beautiful in the world. Not far from the Queen’s beach there is the largest known location of medicinal mud in Croatia. Nin is also known as a salt city with a thousand-year old tradition of salt production. The salt works of Solana Nin feature the Museum of Salt.
The stay in Nin will give you an opportunity to get to know the unique flora and fauna, such as the indigenous bird called Vlastelica.
The rich spiritual heritage plays an important part in the lives of the citizens of Nin and the surrounding area, as is embodied in the pilgrimage to the isle of Zečevo to commemorate the anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Zečevo.
Among else, this small town is praised for its food festival called after the name of Nin's Šokol - a unique cured meat product made of pork neck. It can be found on the menu of city's pubs, taverns and restaurants.
The city of Nin is also appraised for its accommodation capacity: holiday apartments in Zaton Holiday Resort (a tourist pearl of the Zadar region), Aparthotel Condura Croatica, privately owned accommodation, Camp Zaton and other small family camps. Come and enjoy the pleasures that this three-thousand-year old city offers you!
